The Stylish Off-Grid Lamp Lets You Bring Light Anywhere
Off-Grid Lamp
Picture this–you’re staying at a castle in the Austrian countryside (Schloss Hollenegg for the record) as part of design residency to give up-and-coming icons a place for exhibitions and workshops. When there are absolutely no lights available, do you call out for a flashlight or redesign the concept from the ground up? When he was part of the program, designer Klemens Schillinger opted for the latter and created the Off-Grip Lamp you see here. The Off-Grid Lamp combines a hand-crank generator that can be used horizontally (on a table-top or mounted) or vertically to power the small battery integrated into the stem of the detachable light with one minute of crank power resulting in over six minutes of illumination. The hand-powered / removable torch concept went on to get recognized for a Dezeen Award in the lighting category which ultimately led to designer Klemens Schillinger working with renowned brands like Hem and Kvadrat, so you can expect to see his future works on all your favorite design blogs as he expands his portfolio.
